Battle of Fort Sumter:
The Battle of Fort Sumter happened between April 12-14 of the year 1861. On April 12, General P.G.T. Beauregard who was in command of the Confederate forces decided to go open fire on the Union Garrison, Fort Sumter. The North eventually surrendered, and left the fort the next day, leaving the South with another fort and another victory.

1st Battle of Bull Run:
The 1st Battle of Bull Run, also called the Battle of First Manassas, was located in Prince William County, Virginia and was fought on July 21, 1861. This was the first major battle of the Civil War. General McDowell marched on the South of Washington. The Confederate eventually managed to break the Union right flank and McDowell and his army returned to Washington shattered.

Capture of New Orleans:
In the middle of the night on April 24, Admiral David Farragut led a fleet of 24 gunboats, 19 mortar boats, and 15,000 soldiers in a daring run past the forts. Eight Rebel gunboats were sent up the great river to stop a Union flotilla above Memphis, leaving only 3,000 militia left, two uncompleted ironclads, and a few steamboats to defend New Orleans.
